<Spoint> Are we all going to the same place?

[21:11] <GM_narrator> You walk through the fairly empty terminal, heading for one of the street

exits.

[21:11] <GM_narrator> {yeah, i want to see the new film too when it comes out.}

<Spoint> OK.

[21:12] <GM_narrator> U, Michael, Kelly, Livengood, Randel, and another Tech named Debbie

<Spoint> OK. I thought Sara was with us?

[21:12] <GM_narrator> You walk out onto the street, which is quite a bit more crowded. Apparently

this is a fairly major market area, and there are lots of streefront stores and booths.

[21:12] <GM_narrator> and no, Sara is not with you.

[21:13] <GM_narrator> She never came in, and was not waiting w/ Michael.

<Spoint> As we pass, I look to see what they're hawking (I don't stop)

<Spoint> ok

<Spoint> Just out of curiosity, I ask Michael if he knows where she went last night.

[21:14] <GM_narrator> There are several selling fresh vegis and fruits, others have various Solaris

related goods - tshirts, mugs, hats, etc. Typical tourist stuff. emblazoned with Solaris,

Solaris VII, Solaris City, and various warrior's faces, creeds, sayings, and mechs.

<Spoint> cool -- I make a mental not to buy one for Bob later.

<Spoint> note, that is.

[21:15] <GM_narrator> Yeah, we took the tram over to the Davion Sector where there's this little

local bar, really good beer, good nachos, good talk, and good athmosphere.

[21:15] <GM_narrator> {good idea. Don't think Bob would be interested in that sort of thing}

<Spoint> {Hey, I'm a gawky toursit. What do you expect?!! :) }

[21:16] <GM_narrator> Michael steers you around a pile of dog shit on the sidewalk, muttering

something about the lack of public sanatary workers in this part of town...

<Spoint> I look disgusted.

[21:16] * GM_narrator grins

[21:17] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

[21:17] <GM_Michael> we got back around 11:30 or so. Just went out to see the people.

[21:17] <GM_Michael> here turn right.

[21:17] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

<Spoint> OK.

[21:17] <GM_narrator> Michael leads you down a side street. It's quite a bit quieter and less

crowded here.

[21:18] <GM_narrator> a couple of hundred feet later,

[21:18] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

<Spoint> (BTW, side not. The cash I distributed is relatively low. "remember, we're flat broke"}

<Spoint> note, even

[21:18] <GM_Michael> here it is. a little French cafe, cheep, quick, pretty good.

[21:18] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_THE_FAR_SIDE

[21:19] <GM_THE_FAR_SIDE> "note, even"???

<Spoint> I look it over to see what makes it so "French" (Don't bother to describe it)

<Spoint> yeah. IRC equivalent of "that is"

[21:19] <GM_THE_FAR_SIDE> oh, i c.

[21:19] *** GM_THE_FAR_SIDE is now known as GM_Michael

[21:20] <GM_Michael> {michael walks in}

<Spoint> Based on a cartoon character if I remember right

<Spoint> We follow.

[21:20] *** Spoint is now known as Adrian_Spoint

[21:21] <GM_Michael> un baguette, si vouz plait. Et une casse de jus d'orange. {and excuse me if

my spelling is off}

<Adrian_Spoint> (close enough! :)

[21:21] <GM_Michael> what do you guys want?

<Adrian_Spoint> I look at Michael in some surprise

[21:22] <GM_Michael> sotte voce: you can order in english, s'il te plait.

<Adrian_Spoint> <looking over the menu> I think I'll just have a "croissant" <horrible

mispronunciation> and some coffee.

[21:23] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_Kelly

[21:24] <GM_Kelly> i'll have a chocolate croissant and some hot chocolate, please.

[21:24] *** GM_Kelly is now known as GM_narrator

[21:24] <GM_narrator> the others order as they choose. The total bill is 12 C-bills

[21:24] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

[21:24] <GM_Michael> see, i told you it was very affordable

<Adrian_Spoint> Sure.

[21:25] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> I whisper to Michael, "do we each pay for ourselves?"

[21:25] <GM_narrator> {ya know, now that i got these aliases down, it's much easier to change

characters!}

[21:25] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

<Adrian_Spoint> yup.

<Adrian_Spoint> :)

[21:26] <GM_Michael> no, we can put it all together on one bill.

<Adrian_Spoint> ok

[21:26] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> I settle up.

[21:26] <GM_narrator> you pay and then sit down at a large table

[21:27] <GM_narrator> Michael sits next to you

[21:27] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

[21:28] <GM_Michael> I did some checking up last night - if we're gonna carry side arms, we're gonna

have to register with the local constibulary. Knives are ok, but anything else requires

registration.

<Adrian_Spoint> We chow down, and between bites, I inconspicuously ask Michael, "Is it safe to talk

here?"

<Adrian_Spoint> <I assume we have IS sidearms, not Clan models>

[21:29] <GM_Michael> yeah, should be; people don't usually bother some out of work mercs looking to

make a buck, at least not in this part of town. We're to close to the spaceport, and the gov

likes to keep this area clear of trouble so as not to scare away the tourists.

[21:29] <GM_Michael> Now other parts of town...

[21:29] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> That should present no problem, then. I'll pass word on the ship.

[21:29] <GM_narrator> yeah, you have IS model side arms. Lots of those available from dead IS

mechwarriors and infantry.

[21:30] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

<Adrian_Spoint> <that's cruel! :) >

[21:30] <GM_Michael> {what's cruel?}

[21:30] <GM_Michael> {the dead IS personnel?}

<Adrian_Spoint> {no, the comment about the "lots." not something you hear every day! :) }

[21:31] <GM_Michael> each of us is going to have to seperatly register our side arms. I can't

simply register for 8 or 10 people. What stays on the ship is ok, so Staff Sargent Klen and his

men are ok.

[21:31] <GM_Michael> {oh! sorry, but it's true}

<Adrian_Spoint> That's a relief. Things could get ugly otherwise.

[21:31] <GM_Michael> We can register at the Spaceport

<Adrian_Spoint> Until we get established here, I'd rather avoid leaving the spaceport region. If we

can get our work done here, so much the better.

[21:33] <GM_Michael> Anyway, it should be a warm day, with a high around 90 degrees F or so.

[21:33] <GM_Michael> As you wish.

<Adrian_Spoint> Will we continue to stay in accomodations on the ds, or do we need to rent rooms

somewhere

<Adrian_Spoint> ?

<Adrian_Spoint> As you said, the Spaceport is safer than elsewhere, and we don't need any extra

attension.

[21:34] <GM_Michael> stay on the ds for a couple of days, and look for some work, or access to the

arenas for some fighting.

[21:34] <GM_Michael> Then, once a couple of us get jobs or permits to fight, probably should find

some more permanent housing.

[21:34] <GM_Michael> The mechs can stay abord the ds for now.

<Adrian_Spoint> Sounds like a good idea. Do all of you know what to do here?

[21:35] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

[21:36] <GM_narrator> Should've included this earlier: you're to stay on Solaris until either: 1)

you are recalled by Ulric, Natasha, or Phalen, or 2)your cover is blown.

<Adrian_Spoint> {ok. I guess moving on to Outreach to start a Merc group is out of the question,

huh? :) }

[21:37] <GM_narrator> yeup

[21:37] <GM_narrator> :)

[21:37] <GM_narrator> nm

<Adrian_Spoint> ok

[21:38] <GM_narrator> sorry

<Adrian_Spoint> ok.

[21:38] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Kelly

[21:38] <GM_Kelly> uh, no. What exactly are we supposed to do?

[21:38] *** GM_Kelly is now known as GM_Randel

[21:38] <GM_Randel> besides you acquiring an interest in Timbiqui Brewing Co.

<Adrian_Spoint> We are to go out into the city and learn as much as possible about its people, and

through them, about the IS.

<Adrian_Spoint> You know are cover; that'll give you a base to start from.

[21:40] *** GM_Randel is now known as GM_Livengood

<Adrian_Spoint> our cover, that is.

[21:40] <GM_Livengood> So, gaining access to the arenas and doing some fighting is ok, right?

<Adrian_Spoint> build from there, listen a lot, and speak little in return.

[21:40] *** GM_Livengood is now known as GM_Michael

<Adrian_Spoint> Sure -- but I don't want any of you becoming Chmpion of Solaris!!!

[21:41] <GM_Michael> and keep your eyes open. There's always trouble happening.

<Adrian_Spoint> <humorously> That's my job.

[21:41] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_Randel

<Adrian_Spoint> <seriously again> Absolutely. Thugs and criminals roam the seedier parts of town.

<Adrian_Spoint> Always be aware of your surroundings.

[21:42] <GM_Randel> Good luck, sir, but looks like you're gonna have to go through Kai Allard for

that honor. He seems to be the current favorite to win the next Tournament of Champions in

November.

<Adrian_Spoint> It might be interesting to test Mr. Allard's mettle -- but that would attract too

much attention to us.

[21:42] *** GM_Randel is now known as GM_Michael

<Adrian_Spoint> shame. It was a good idea ... :)

[21:43] <GM_Michael> Yeah, probably. His dad was quite a Mechwarrior too. Champion for something

like 8 years straight back in the '20's.

<Adrian_Spoint> Ok, another thing. remember that here, you are NOT of the warrior caste. Others

here are your equals at least, quite probably your betters for some time.

<Adrian_Spoint> do NOT go around insulting them -- that'll earn you enemies real fast.

[21:44] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_Kelly

[21:45] <GM_Kelly> we're from the Federated Commonwealth, right?

<Adrian_Spoint> If you do get provoked into a war of words, don't use ... our "usual" epithets

<Adrian_Spoint> It's good enough cover.

<Adrian_Spoint> At least they speak english.

[21:45] <GM_Kelly> Then i don't see what the problem is with insulting some Cappellans.

[21:46] <GM_Kelly> That is, if i understand current IS politics right.

<Adrian_Spoint> If you have a good reason to be from elsewhere, then by all means do it. But

remember what you say to whom.

<Adrian_Spoint> <chuckle> true, Kelly.

<Adrian_Spoint> Still, be careful.

[21:46] *** GM_Kelly is now known as GM_Michael

[21:47] <GM_Michael> Adrian, didn't u want to have a "team meeting" at around 9? if so, we shoud

get going.

<Adrian_Spoint> I look at my watch. "Sure. everyone done?"

[21:47] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

[21:47] <GM_narrator> yes

<Adrian_Spoint> ok

[21:48] <GM_narrator> Michael leads you back to the ds.

[21:48] <GM_narrator> on the way, he points out where to register your side arms

<Adrian_Spoint> I make a mental note of it.

[21:49] <GM_narrator> back at the ship.

<Adrian_Spoint> I call together the meeting.

[21:49] <GM_narrator> everyone is assembling in the mess hall

<Adrian_Spoint> <I assume the time is right>

[21:49] <GM_narrator> Sara walks in right on time.

[21:49] <GM_narrator> yeup

<Adrian_Spoint> during the meeting, I repeat the highlights of what we discussed

[21:50] <GM_narrator> ok

[21:50] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

<Adrian_Spoint> Any other comments or opinions, people?

[21:50] <GM_Michael> Adrian, how formal are we going to be about rank here? Our cover is that we're

a merc group;

[21:51] <GM_Michael> you and Sara are Captains, i'm a Leutenent, the others are mechwarriors. Do we

call you Captain, or can we call you Adrian?

<Adrian_Spoint> We're a former merc group. We still hold the rank nominally, but after what we've

theoretically been through, rank doesn't really matter.

[21:51] <GM_Michael> As for me, everyone calling me Michael's fine with me.

<Adrian_Spoint> When and if we formally regoup, we'll worry about rank then.

[21:52] <GM_Michael> Sounds good.

<Adrian_Spoint> Until then, we're all just friends and former rank-mates.

[21:52] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_Kelly

[21:52] *** GM_Kelly is now known as GM_Klen

<Adrian_Spoint> Another thing. We have plenty of time here. So go out and enjoy yourselves while

you do your thing.

[21:52] <GM_Klen> Although you're still in charge, right?

[21:52] * GM_Klen winks and grins

[21:53] *** GM_Klen is now known as GM_Michael

<Adrian_Spoint> <dryly> Thanks, Klen.

[21:53] <GM_Michael> ok, i'm outta here for the day. Gonna go look around. I'll catch ya all later.

[21:53] *** GM_Michael is now known as Klen

[21:53] <Klen> anytime, sir.

[21:53] *** Klen is now known as GM_Michael

<Adrian_Spoint> Try to stay in pairs for the while, until we learn our way around.

[21:53] * GM_Michael walks out

[21:54] <GM_Michael> shit. Ok, Sara, ya want ta go continue looking around?

[21:54] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_Sara

[21:54] <GM_Sara> sure

[21:54] * GM_Sara sara walks out with michael

[21:54] *** GM_Sara is now known as GM_narrator

[21:54] <GM_narrator> unless u object

<Adrian_Spoint> Good luck to you all. Aside from daily stuff, I want a weekly report and summary

from each of you. Keep them short and don't flood me with paperwork, but keep me up to date.

[21:55] *** GM_narrator is now known as all

[21:55] <all> {exasperated} yes sir

[21:55] *** all is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> So go out there and "do your thang"

<Adrian_Spoint> :)

[21:56] <GM_narrator> {had a slight nick collide there as all}

<Adrian_Spoint> Just a paragraph a week won't kill you!! :)

[21:56] *** GM_narrator is now known as all

[21:56] * all lol

[21:56] *** all is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> ok

<Adrian_Spoint> :)

[21:57] <GM_narrator> what do u do

[21:57] <GM_narrator> ?

[21:57] <GM_narrator> everyone goes their seperate ways.

<Adrian_Spoint> I ask Randel to stay behind a moment

[21:57] <GM_narrator> Randel and the other techs to the mech bays, Klen to ship command, most

everyone else towards the terminal

[21:57] <GM_narrator> Randel stays

[21:57] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Randel

[21:58] <GM_Randel> what's up, boss?

<Adrian_Spoint> I just had a thought. Can you rig up some sort of voice-pattern controlled radios

so that we may communicate with each other securely in an emergency?

<Adrian_Spoint> Naturally, they need to be totally secure.

[21:59] <GM_Randel> yeah, i should be able to do that. Gonna need some parts, though.

<Adrian_Spoint> Get what you need. Let me know what the cost is and I'll cover it.

[21:59] <GM_Randel> hhhmmm, w/o using Clan tech... well, i guess i can figure something out. Lemme

go look around some electronics stores for a while.

[21:59] <GM_Randel> I'll take Debbie with me.

<Adrian_Spoint> ok

[22:00] <GM_Randel> ok, c u later.

[22:00] *** GM_Randel is now known as GM_narrator

[22:00] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Randel

[22:00] * GM_Randel heads off to get Debbie

[22:00] *** GM_Randel is now known as GM_narrator

[22:00] <GM_narrator> You're alone in the mess hall

<Adrian_Spoint> I head off to see Klen, tell him if he needs anything for himself or his men from

off-ds, to let me know.

[22:01] <GM_narrator> Klen's on the bridge, the command station while the ds is grounded.

[22:01] *** GM_narrator is now known as Ship_Captain

<Adrian_Spoint> Sure. I make the same offer to teh captain

[22:01] <Ship_Captain> Adrian, can my crew and i wander about as wanted?

[22:01] *** Ship_Captain is now known as GM_narrator

[22:02] <GM_narrator> they look normal enough, slightly enlarged heads for a couple, but nothing

noteworthy.

<Adrian_Spoint> I ask, "Have you had the IS briefing?"

<Adrian_Spoint> habits, society, etc.

[22:02] *** GM_narrator is now known as Ship_Captain

[22:02] <Ship_Captain> yes sir, enough so that as long as we stay around the spaceport for now we

should be ok.

<Adrian_Spoint> Ok. I want a full emergency crew on ship at all times.

[22:03] <Ship_Captain> yes sir, no problem.

[22:03] *** Ship_Captain is now known as GM_Kelly

<Adrian_Spoint> Enough for emergency launch and travel.

[22:03] *** GM_Kelly is now known as GM_Klen

<Adrian_Spoint> Anything else?

[22:04] *** GM_Klen is now known as Ship_Captain

[22:04] <Ship_Captain> no problem. That'll allow 3 or 4 or us off at a time. We'll take rotations.

[22:04] *** Ship_Captain is now known as GM_Klen

<Adrian_Spoint> very good.

[22:05] <GM_Klen> Yeah, if we need or want anything, we'll let u or the crew or someone get it for

us.

<Adrian_Spoint> OK. See you all later.

[22:05] <GM_Klen> What we will need eventually is to get out of town for a day for some exercise and

training. WE can go a point at a time, so as not to leave the ship undefended. Maybe a large

van or something?

<Adrian_Spoint> I'll see what we can arrange.

[22:06] <GM_Klen> have fun, sir.

<Adrian_Spoint> Thanks, Klen.

<Adrian_Spoint> (Oh, and about that Shwarznegger fellow -- you're a better actor than he is!)

[22:07] <GM_Klen> hasta

[22:07] * GM_Klen goes and looks at a data readout

[22:07] *** GM_Klen is now known as GM_narrator

[22:07] <GM_narrator> what do you do?

<Adrian_Spoint> ok, I head to the ship dock and see if anyone's left.

<Adrian_Spoint> (or rather, not left)

[22:07] <GM_narrator> :)

[22:08] <GM_narrator> a couple of techs, working on the mechs. Routine post flight stuff

<Adrian_Spoint> I meant the group.

[22:09] <GM_narrator> That's all you can find. Looks like Michael and Sara are together, Randel and

Debbie, Pacterick, Kelly and Grell are together.

[22:09] <GM_narrator> You find Livengood checking something out in his mech cockpit

<Adrian_Spoint> Wonder where Livengood ended up?

<Adrian_Spoint> never mind

[22:09] * GM_narrator lol

<Adrian_Spoint> I head out into the spaceport, just look at the stuff for sale. I stay close to the

ship.

<Adrian_Spoint> Start learning the terrain, so to speak.

[22:10] <GM_narrator> You see Michael and Sara.

[22:10] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

[22:11] <GM_Michael> better go register your side arm, Adrian. The place is just down this terminal

to the right.

<Adrian_Spoint> {am I carrying one?}

[22:11] <GM_Michael> We're gonna head out into the city.

[22:11] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

[22:11] <GM_narrator> i donno, are u?

<Adrian_Spoint> Good luck, and have fun.

[22:11] <GM_narrator> it's just some general advice, though

[22:11] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

[22:11] <GM_Michael> thanks, c u later

<Adrian_Spoint> Usually, I don't.

[22:12] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

[22:12] <GM_narrator> ok, your choice.

[22:12] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Michael

<Adrian_Spoint> well, if I am, I get it registered.

<Adrian_Spoint> (Ok, I am )

[22:12] <GM_Michael> oh, and it might be smart to carry something if u're gonna leave the spaceport.

<Adrian_Spoint> That bad?

[22:12] <GM_Michael> {then register it! :)}

[22:13] <GM_Michael> it can be dangerous in some area, and we all know how well you can read a map!

[22:13] * GM_Michael grins

<Adrian_Spoint> I'll remember that, Michael!!

[22:13] * GM_Michael lol

[22:14] * GM_Michael heads off w/ Sara

[22:14] *** GM_Michael is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> Anyhow, we go our separate ways, and I head off to the resistration booth.

[22:14] <GM_narrator> what do you do?

<Adrian_Spoint> registration, that is.

[22:14] <GM_narrator> okie dokie

[22:14] <GM_narrator> welcome Malikan

[22:15] <GM_narrator> you wonder through the terminal, taking it all in.

<Adrian_Spoint> After that, I just wander around for a while, getiing to know the spaceport.

[22:15] <GM_narrator> This appears to be a more semi-permanant docking area, as there aren't many

people around, certianly not what you'd expect from a travel area.

<Adrian_Spoint> Eventually, I return to the ship, and pull up a map of solaris.

[22:15] <GM_narrator> You find the registration desk.

<Adrian_Spoint> Oh, sorry.

<Adrian_Spoint> ok

[22:16] <GM_narrator> hey, slow down.

[22:16] <GM_narrator> :)

[22:16] <GM_narrator> as i said, you find the registration desk

<Adrian_Spoint> I look around, to see what the normal procedure is.

[22:17] <GM_narrator> there is a clerk behind the desk.

[22:17] <GM_narrator> no one else is around

<Adrian_Spoint> Any instruction signs?

[22:18] <GM_narrator> not really. A sign saying Solaris City Constablelary

<Adrian_Spoint> Ok ... I walk up to the clerk.

[22:18] <GM_narrator> excuse the spelling. I've never been very good at it!}

[22:19] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_clerk

<Adrian_Spoint> {forget it -- neither is mine!!!}

[22:19] <GM_clerk> Good morning, sir. How can i help you?

<Adrian_Spoint> I need to get this registered, I say, indicating my weapon.

[22:19] <GM_clerk> No problem. I'll just need some identification, and to see the weapon for a

minute.

[22:20] <GM_clerk> It'll also cost 10 C-bills

<Adrian_Spoint> I hand it over, and pull out my (phony) ID

<Adrian_Spoint> Also the cash.

[22:20] <GM_clerk> Ok, if you can just fill out these forms please.

[22:20] *** GM_clerk is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> more paperwork, I grumble.

[22:21] <GM_narrator> name, address or other place where you can be located, where from, etc.

[22:21] <GM_narrator> :)

<Adrian_Spoint> I always thought I'd die in mech cockpit, but it appears I'll die of paper cuts!

[22:21] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_clerk

[22:21] * GM_clerk lol

<Adrian_Spoint> I fill them out.

<Adrian_Spoint> I ask the clerk, where can a guy get a decent drink around here?

[22:22] <GM_clerk> thank you sir. Your side arm is now registered. Here is a copy of the local gun

laws. I'd advise you to read them over.

<Adrian_Spoint> OK, I will.

<Adrian_Spoint> I pay the clerk and leave a tip.

[22:23] <GM_clerk> Well, if you exit the Spaceport through the Maple Street exit, head right down

Mapel to Archer Blvd., turn left on Archer, take go another 4 blocks, there's a nice little pub

catering to locals.

[22:23] *** GM_clerk is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> Sounds like a good place. Thanks for the advice

[22:24] <GM_narrator> ok

<Adrian_Spoint> I (now) pay the clerk and leave a tip.

<Adrian_Spoint> :)

[22:24] <GM_narrator> brb

<Adrian_Spoint> ok

[22:28] <GM_narrator> ok, i'm back

[22:29] <GM_narrator> now what?

[22:29] <GM_narrator> back to the ship?

<Adrian_Spoint> yeah -- I need plan of attack.

[22:29] <GM_narrator> to attack what?

<Adrian_Spoint> my duties. First, how to go about becoming a mechWarrior of decent yet ill repute,

and how to find a trustworthy lawyer to set up a dummy corp.

[22:30] <GM_narrator> i c

[22:30] <GM_narrator> so, what do u decide to do?

<Adrian_Spoint> I figure the ilKhan will be getting thirsty, so I start lookin for beer distributors.

<Adrian_Spoint> :)

[22:32] <GM_narrator> ok. you try the yellow pages.

<Adrian_Spoint> sure.

[22:32] <GM_narrator> Timbiqui Brewing Co. is listed.

<Adrian_Spoint> Cool. I set that thought aside until the corp is established.

<Adrian_Spoint> next, i look under lawyers

[22:33] <GM_narrator> oh boy. Let's see, Solaris City probably has a pop of around 1.5 mil or so.

[22:33] <GM_narrator> Plus it's a planetary (and system) capitol

[22:33] <GM_narrator> Plus its a major economic center

[22:34] <GM_narrator> plus its a major entertainment center

<Adrian_Spoint> lol

<Adrian_Spoint> Ok, OK, I get the picture

[22:34] <GM_narrator> so let's see. Say, around 100+ pages of lawyer ads, including the full sized

ones.

<Adrian_Spoint> Well, There must be some major, surviving names of established law firms.

<Adrian_Spoint> The big ones everyone trusts.

[22:34] <GM_narrator> Klen, seeing what your doing, comes over.

[22:34] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_Klen

[22:35] <GM_Klen> Maybe u'd better wait a few days for this, sir. Then maybe you'll know someone to

ask, or have figured the local customs and stuff out.

<Adrian_Spoint> True, but I'd like to get an idea of the size of the task first.

<Adrian_Spoint> If it can be done in a few days, I'll gladly put it off.

<Adrian_Spoint> But if it takes a while, I need to start on it now.

[22:37] <GM_Klen> Yeah, well we're going to be here for a while, and i don't think the ilKhan would

approve of wasteful haste simply to satisfy his desire for something to drink.

<Adrian_Spoint> Oh, not at all! :)

<Adrian_Spoint> Have no fear, Klen, I won't rush things.

[22:38] <GM_Klen> yes, sir.

<Adrian_Spoint> Feeling peckish, and seeing that it's nearing lunchtime, I go off to have a bite of

lunch somewhere in the spaceport restaurants.

[22:38] * GM_Klen nods

[22:38] *** GM_Klen is now known as GM_narrator

[22:39] <GM_narrator> ok.

[22:39] <GM_narrator> you wonder around for a while. Eventually, you find youself in the travel

area of the spaceport.

<Adrian_Spoint> I choose a decent-looking restaurant.

[22:39] <GM_narrator> You see restraunts called McDonalds, Taco Bell, Dominos, etc.

[22:40] <GM_narrator> Most of the places look to be serving quick, finger food meals

<Adrian_Spoint> Even in the Clans, they have Fast-food resaurants!! :)

<Adrian_Spoint> OK, I pick an interesting-looking one at random

[22:40] <GM_narrator> well, that's what you find in the spaceport.

[22:40] <GM_narrator> Taco Bell

<Adrian_Spoint> and order something that has a tasty-looking picture up.

[22:41] <GM_narrator> You wander in, and see on the menu tacos, burritos, etc.

<Adrian_Spoint> :)

[22:41] <GM_narrator> The 7 layer burrito.

[22:41] <GM_narrator> and some coke

<Adrian_Spoint> {Whoof! OK}

<Adrian_Spoint> {Pepsi}

[22:42] *** GM_narrator is now known as GM_The_Far_Side

<Adrian_Spoint> Anyhow, I buy a tourist map, and look for the closest arena.

[22:42] <GM_The_Far_Side> sorry, i've signed a marketing agreement with Coke-cola for all of my role

playing games. Only Coke and Coke products will be featured in anything i am GMing.

[22:42] <GM_The_Far_Side> in other words, i don't really like pepsi.

[22:42] *** GM_The_Far_Side is now known as GM_narrator

[22:43] *** GM_narrator is now known as Taco

[22:43] *** Taco is now known as Taco_Bell_Clerk

<Adrian_Spoint> I agree wholeheartedly, but even in RPG's we have to bow to reality once in a while.

:)

[22:43] <Taco_Bell_Clerk> {someone else owns the nick Taco. Go figure}

<Adrian_Spoint> BTW, have you registered The_Far_Side?

<Adrian_Spoint> or Jallan?

[22:44] <Taco_Bell_Clerk> {so, this is over 1000 years in the future. Things change}

[22:44] <Taco_Bell_Clerk> that'll be 4 C-bills, please

[22:44] *** Taco_Bell_Clerk is now known as GM_narrator

<Adrian_Spoint> I pay, and think to myself that this might be a place worth introducing Michael to.

<Adrian_Spoint> Then I eat the food, and re-think that last proposition.

<Adrian_Spoint> The croissant was much better!

[22:45] <GM_narrator> he'd probably shoot you.

[22:45] <GM_narrator> so, what do you do?

<Adrian_Spoint> to repeat,

<Adrian_Spoint> Anyhow, I buy a tourist map, and look for the closest arena.

[22:46] <GM_narrator> btw, your jumpship has an hpg on it for your convinence.

[22:46] <GM_narrator> ok. You buy a tourist map. 1 C-bill

<Adrian_Spoint> <I assume there's daily matches, aside from anything else.>

[22:46] <GM_narrator> The nearest Arena is a Class II, about 3/4 km away.

[22:46] <GM_narrator> The various Class I arenas are all reachable by tram.

<Adrian_Spoint> I'm guessing that few dropships do. Better keep that secret for now.

<Adrian_Spoint> ??? Class II? I look for a tourist info booth or something.

<Adrian_Spoint> <or do I already know this from reading up on Solaris?>

[22:48] <GM_narrator> nope you don't know this.

[22:49] *** GM_narrator is now known as The_Far_Side

[22:49] <The_Far_Side> just a sec.

[22:51] <The_Far_Side> you pick up a tourist book (another 5 C-bills) and read all about it.

[22:51] <The_Far_Side> The Class I arenas are the big ones, where the big names fight.

[22:51] <The_Far_Side> The Class II arenas are the slightly minor leagues

[22:52] <The_Far_Side> The Class III arenas are the total minor leagues

[22:52] <The_Far_Side> The Class IV arenas are the amature arenas

<Adrian_Spoint> Hmmm ...

[22:53] *** The_Far_Side is now known as jallan

<Adrian_Spoint> OK, I decide to go watch a match at the Class II arena, and see the caliber of the

players there. Is there a match daily?

[22:54] *** jallan is now known as GM_narrator

[22:54] <GM_narrator> sorry about that.

<Adrian_Spoint> No problem

[22:54] <GM_narrator> For the most part, on every week day, and some weekends.

<Adrian_Spoint> And today is ...

<Adrian_Spoint> (grab that perpetual calender!

<Adrian_Spoint> )

<Adrian_Spoint> :)

[22:55] <GM_narrator> oh, let's say it's a thursday.

[22:55] <GM_narrator> Actually, let's make it a wed.

<Adrian_Spoint> I note the that the time of the match is ...

<Adrian_Spoint> (usually)

[22:55] <GM_narrator> sorry :)

[22:56] <GM_narrator> there are matches at 1:30, 3, 4, 5, and 8:30 pm today.

<Adrian_Spoint> i decide the 4:00 show sounds good, and head back to the ship.

[22:57] <GM_narrator> ok.

[22:57] <GM_narrator> back on the ds...
