Hopefully a battalion at most, probably less (see below). The 116th Division is a veteran unit. They faced Clan Wolf during the first day of battle, and then withdrew for rest and refit. Mechs and vehicles are expected to be fully supplied with ammunition although they may not be fully repaired.

Because of Galaxy Commander Mikel Furey’s position in the field, I am temporarily issuing orders to the 16th Battle Cluster. If there are any problems with this, the offended party can meet me in a Trial of Grievance after the conquest of Tukayyid is complete, as per my and Khan Garth’s earlier orders.

At 0730 lima, units of Beta Galaxy are going to move towards the Com Guard lines on map 135. At 0815 units of Alpha Galaxy are going to come out of the hidden positions to which they moved during the night, flanking the Com Guard units. It is expected that the 116^th Division will be brought out to reinforce the Com Guard line. The 116^th Division consists of approximately a regiment of Mechs with 2 battalions of support units. Most of the support units were destroyed in earlier fighting. Based on previous battles, it is expected that the 116^th will send roughly 2 battalions of Mechs, with the third battalion remaining behind to guard their base. Battle films indicate that this battalion is probably not up to full strength.

Normally, the 16^th would not be called on to participate in battle without a commanding officer, but exceptional situations make for unusual orders. The remaining Mechs and Elementals of the 16^th Battle Cluster are hereby ordered to organize into two units, one larger than the other. The smaller unit (hereby named Scalpel) will be commanded by Nova Captain Adrian, and is to consist of the remains of Supernova Second. The larger unit (hereby named Tongs) is to consist of the remains of Supernovas Command and Third, under the command of Nova Captain Bob Ward. The two commanders are free to organize their units as they see fit.

Both units are to be ready to move, at map 138 grid 43, by 0730 lima, on 8 May 3052. Upon transmission of activation code Beechnut, Tongs is to move towards the Com Guards base at the indicated location. They are to engage the guarding units, and move them away from the base. At the commander’s discretion, Scalpel is to move into the base, then to inspect all structures in the base for supplies, particularly ammunition and other Mech supplies. If such supplies are located, Scalpel is to call in an air strike from Trinary Fighter.

Scalpel’s orders are:

Primary: Inspect all structures in base for supplies

Primary: Destroy all anti-aircraft emplacements

Secondary: Destroy all defending units

Tong’s orders are:

Primary: To draw as many of the defenders as possible away from the base long enough for Scalpel to complete its mission.

Trinary Fighter’s orders are:

Upon transmission of code Bazooka from the commander of Scalpel or Tongs, to move in and strafe the Com Guard base, destroying all buildings.
